Blackthorne Trust Joins Smart Money Cymru Community Bank
The Blackthorne Trust, a Mid Wales non-profit promoting participation in rural heritage, has become Smart Money Cymru’s newest community account.
Smart Money Cymru Community Bank is a financial cooperative that offers community accounts, individual accounts, junior accounts and Smart Payroll Savers accounts for employers in Wales. The Blackthorne Trust joined Smart Money Cymru Community Bank in April and paid a visit to the new Llandrindod Wells office to say hello.
Rebbecca, Honor, Fran, Woof and Quizzical the Torwen lamb joined Smart Money’s CEO, Mark White, Powys Director Nicky Roberts and Powys Development Manager Andrew Davies at the recently refurbished Smart Money Cymru high-street office in Middleton Street, Llandrindod Wells.
When asked why The Blackthorne Trust had chosen Smart Money Cymru, Rebbecca said ‘It’s good to find a financial service provider that is ethical, supports communities and represents a great alternative to mainstream banking’. Asked how they found out about Smart Money Cymru, Rebbecca added, ‘through the evolution of Red Kite Savings and Loans Credit Union’. In 2022, Red Kite Credit Union merged with Smart Money Cymru Community Bank which, Rebbecca said, provides a ‘bigger and more exciting prospect for community banking’ in Powys.
The Blackthorne Trust aims to preserve, promote and communicate the value of our rural heritage, caring for rare breed flocks and heritage seed varieties, practicing closed loop food production and connecting people to the ontological value of living from the land.
