Smart Money Cymru Community Bank Teams Up with AFC Penrhiwceiber to Support Youth Football
In a significant boost to grassroots sports, Smart Money Cymru Community Bank has signed a two-year sponsorship agreement with AFC Penrhiwceiber Minis and Juniors. This partnership will help provide matchday kits for 280 young football players in both girls and mixed teams. This initiative, alongside contributions from other sponsors, underscores the bank's commitment to supporting local communities and fostering youth development through sports.
Supporting the Next Generation of Players
Mathew Hargraves, Chairman of the Minis and Juniors section of AFC Penrhiwceiber, expressed his enthusiasm for the new sponsorship:
"Many thanks to Smart Money Cymru and our other sponsors for their generosity, which has enabled the club to provide these kits, ensuring the teams look the part on matchdays. It is a great boost for the club and the players, and we are very grateful. Without their help, many of the things we do would not be possible."
Formed in 2016 by Mathew Hargraves, Peter Taylor, and David Matthews, the Minis and Juniors section was established to meet the growing demand for mixed junior football in the village of Penrhiwceiber. The club has grown rapidly over the years, and in 2022, a girls-only section was added, attracting players from across the nearby valleys.
A Proud Partnership
Smart Money Cymru Community Bank, which recently opened its first branch in Rhondda Cynon Taf at Hwb Cana in Penywaun, Aberdare, is thrilled to be part of this endeavour. Manager Eleri Walters, stated:
"We at Smart Money Cymru are proud to sponsor AFC Penrhiwceiber Minis and Juniors. It is very encouraging to see so many young people, both boys and girls, taking part, and we wish them all good luck in their matches."
The role of community banking is becoming increasingly crucial as traditional banks continue to close branches. Smart Money Cymru is stepping in to fill this void, offering essential banking and financial services to local residents. Walters emphasized:
"We have a considerable presence in South and Mid Wales, with around 15,000 members using our network of branches to access banking services. We encourage people to visit our branch at Hwb Cana to see what we can do for them."
Community and Collaboration
The partnership with Smart Money Cymru reflects AFC Penrhiwceiber's commitment to making football accessible and enjoyable for everyone. The club offers mixed groups from under-6 to under-14, and girls-only teams for players aged 8 to 15. In a bid to support its teams without placing financial pressure on families, the club turned to local businesses for sponsorship. This strategy allowed them to purchase kits without asking parents for contributions, particularly given the current high cost of living.
Additionally, AFC Penrhiwceiber is proud to feature Cerebral Palsy Cymru on their kits, recognising the organisation's ongoing support for players over the years.
The collaboration between Smart Money Cymru Community Bank and AFC Penrhiwceiber Minis and Juniors not only provides essential resources to young athletes but also strengthens community ties, demonstrating the power of local partnerships in driving positive change.
Smart Money Cymru Community Bank is dedicated to supporting local initiatives and fostering community spirit. We invite everyone to visit our branch at Hwb Cana to discover the range of services we offer to help you achieve your financial goals.
